10th Symposium of the International Association for Lichenology to be held in Trieste, Italy
The 10th Symposium of the International Association for Lichenology (IAL10) - organised by the International Association for Lichenology, the University of Trieste's Department of Life Sciences and the Italian Lichenological Society - is to be held in Trieste, Italy, from 26th to 31st July 2026. The event, which is expected to draw students, researchers, group leaders, amateur lichenologists, and educators from across the globe, will be organised in a country where a thriving community of approximately 150 professional and amateur lichenologists are actively engaged in the field.
Topics to be addressed at the symposium include taxonomy, lichen-associated microorganisms, biodiversity and its conservation, biology and ecophysiology, environmental biomonitoring, and cultural heritage conservation. Participants are invited to exchange expertise, present new findings, and establish or strengthen collaborative projects and field activities.
Pensoft Publishers will also be represented at the event, with a dedicated on-site booth from which their plant and mycology journal portfolio will be showcased to attendees.
IAL10 is anticipated to serve as a valuable platform through which existing knowledge is shared and future directions in lichenology are shaped. Further information regarding registration and the scientific programme are available on the event's official site.
