Habit of Echinochloa crus-galli var. crus-galli growing as a roadside weed, Belgium. Although extremely variable, the usually more or less procumbent habit (the lower nodes often rooting) and the floppy leaves are among the features that distinguish var. crus-galli from the obligate rice weeds E. crus-galli var. oryzoides and E. oryzicola which are characterised by a more erect and stiffer habit.
