The four new species described here from Southeast Asia are morphologically similar to each other, but can be differentiated on the basis of valve shape, valve ends and striae density. All species share the morphological features typical for the genus

These new species were found in different water ecosystems of Vietnam that show this genus is widespread in this country, especially in acidic ecosystems.
