Typical growth form (left) of Diplachne fusca subsp. fascicularis (Montgomery Co., Kansas; Snow 10978 [KSP]). As typical for the subspecies, it has fewer, longer, and more widely spaced panicle branches (right) than L. f. subsp. uninervia, with one or more of the lower panicle branches enclosed in the uppermost leaf sheath.
